Ian Cooke - Painting Watercolor

Ian was a professional horticulturalist and garden designer all his working life in the UK and won many awards for the landscapes he managed. He is also the author of nine published gardening books and was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Associate of Honor on his retirement.

After retirement, he turned to watercolor painting. He has studied under Charles Reid and admires the work of John Singer Sargent. His art has been accepted in juried shows in both the UK and USA, as well as winning a number of awards. In recent years he has taught watercolor painting to the Middle School Art Project students

Ian’s passion has been for painting flowers but in a determination to master the medium, he has painted many other subjects and has won awards for still life, marine and life studies. Whilst his flower studies are crisp and botanical, he also like to paint some subjects in a loose and watery styles.
