JoAnn - Painting Animals in Pastels

JoAnn Fallstone is a predominantly self-taught artist who works in pastel and acrylic.

As the mother of two boys and an active teacher, she didn't begin exploring her interest in art in her mid-forties.

She soon discovered her passion for painting animals which led to a second career painting custom pet portraits. Wildlife painting also became a favorite for her. She has received first and second place awards from the Society of Washington Artists and the Clark County Fair, two first place awards from the Spa City Paletteers Annual Art Show, and Best of Show from the Skamania County Art Society. An invitation to hang at the Primate Gallery at the Oregon Zoo was one of her favorite honors.

JoAnn was asked to teach pastels for Art's Desire, an art store and teaching shop in Vancouver, Washington. She ended up teaching hundreds of students in evening and weekend classes there for 28 years.s

JoAnn Fallstone has been a member of the Spa City Paletteers for three years. This season is her second year serving as the Club's Vice President.
