Jury Submission for New Gallery Members 2017

The Desert Art Center invites members to submit artwork to our jury for review during the month of November. If it is accepted, you can become a new Gallery Member, display and sell your work at the DAC. Existing Gallery Members may also apply for an alternative display subcategory. If you are not an active member of the DAC, you must join as a regular member first. You can join here. At this stage you must also complete an artist's bio or statement as part of your profile.

Fees - There is a non refundable $10 jury application fee, which will be set against your member badge if your application is successful. Gallery members are also required to pay an annual Gallery Hanging fee which is currently $50. This is payable if you are accepted.

Entry - This year we will have a two stage jury process. For the first stage, we are asking that all applicants submit their work digitally. Please refer to the Desert Art Center GALLERY DISPLAY RULES and choose the gallery display category for your application. You may submit in only one category. We regret that this year we are not accepting applications from jewelers or photographers due to space limitations and balancing of the display areas.

All works must be submitted digitally via your member profile photo album. You must create a photo album entitled "Jury Submissions". To edit your profile and add the photo album, go to your profile page and click your name at the top right. We are asking that you submit between 6 and 10 photosEntries must be in JPEG, GIF, PNG, or TIFF formats not to exceed 100MB in size and should be a good representation of your work. The title of each photo should contain the Title of the work, the medium, and width x height (x depth if 3D). You can access your photo album at your Member Profile.

From the initial applicants, the jurors will select a shortlist of artists, who will be asked to bring in two representative pieces of work on Friday, December 9, between 1-4pm. Do check the  GALLERY DISPLAY RULES before presenting your work

New Gallery Members - Members will be notified by e-mail by December 18 with the results of the jury's review . If your work is accepted, you will be eligible to become a Gallery Member. Since all Gallery Members who show work in the gallery are required to spend one day a month hosting the gallery, you will be required to attend an orientation; dates of the orientation will be announced later. Art intake for new Gallery Members will be Monday, January 29, 2018 for our February Show.

First intake for new show - Monday January 29, 2018, 10am to 4pm

Commitment - Once you are a Gallery Member and pay your annual Gallery Member's dues you may show your work in our gallery.  Please note, if you allow your DAC membership to lapse for a period of one year, you lose your privilege to exhibit in the gallery and will need to be rejuried to restore your gallery status, so it is important to maintain at least an active Regular membership.

Liability - By submitting artwork, artists acknowledge insurance is the responsibility of each individual artist. The Desert Art Center will not be held responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property owned by you.
