    to our annual Holiday Lunch which takes place on Sunday December 10, at 12 noon. Once again, the venue will be the O’Donnell Golf Club Restaurant. Desert Art Center Members and their spouses or guests are invited. 

    The cost, inclusive of gratuities and tax will be $30. There will be a cash bar available. 

    The menu which offers a choice of entrées is as follows:

      Starter
      Mixed Green Salad with toasted walnuts, goat cheese, dried sweet cranberries, cranberry balsamic dressing

    Option #1 Seared New York Steak Diane
    Herb roasted potatoes

    If you would like to attend, you can book at the desk in the gallery, with your name and selected entrée choice. You may also book by telephone to 760 323 7973, in which case we ask you to make payment when you next visit the gallery or on the day of the event.

    Do come for some good food, to meet up with old friends and meet some of our new artists!

    Calling All DAC Regular and Gallery Members to lend support to the 2nd Annual “Arts for Kids Day,” on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 from 1-4 pm at the DAC. This event raises funds for DAC’s Middle School Art Project and the Susan Smith Evans Scholarship Fund. To accomplish this amazing feat, we need participation from every member! It’s fun and rewarding to see so many families and friends enjoying an afternoon of art and entertainment.

    Call Sally Hedberg at 925-788-9862, or email her at sallyhedberg@gmail.com to assist that day with art projects, selling raffle tickets, setting up and clean up.

    The First Ever Juried Art Show for Regular and Gallery DAC Members!!!

    Our goal is to raise $8,000 and as a DAC member, you can help us by entering and donating a piece of your art into the Judged Art Show which will be part of this event. There will be several categories, Best in Show, People's Choice, Wearable Art, 3D Art, 2D Art and Photography. Winners will be presented with ribbons. All the Art will be in a raffle drawing.

    Tickets for “Art for Kids Day” are $5 for adults, kids under 16 free. These tickets make great “stocking stuffers” and Holiday gifts for families, friends, neighbors etc. Tickets and promotional cards available at the DAC Gallery front desk.

    Always wanted to sculpt? Take Kay Henkel’s Sculpture class at DAC on Wednesday mornings from 9 AM to 12 PM. Kay has been teaching for over 30 years and she’s an honored member of the National Sculpture Society. Among her clients are Hollywood celebrities Candace Bergen, Gene Hackman, Lucille Ball, Sonny Bono and Rodney Dangerfield.

    Drawing to Enhance Your Skills
    with Instructor Rik Phillips

    Tuesdays from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Rik Phillips was born in Boston, MA. At fourteen, he won his first art award. This launched his forty year art career. At seventeen, he won a scholarship to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and later went on to the University of MA to receive his bachelor's degree in education.

    In 1973, Rik taught Three Dimensional Design andrikwithborderConceptual Art at Montserrat School of Visual Arts.

    All students welcome, whether beginner or intermediate. Classes focus on the skills and fundamentals of composition, perspective, shading, shape, texture, value etc. The Class will include not only instruction in the classroom but will experience drawing nature.

    $120 for 4 weeks or $35 for 1 class
    Held in the Desert Art Center small studio.

    DAC instructors Jessica Schiffman and David Fairrington were each selected to host one of the 4 drawing workshops that will celebrate the Annenberg Estate’s sculpture of “Eve” by Auguste Rodin, in honor of the centenary of the artist’s death (1841-1917). Jessica will be there on Nov 8th and David on Nov 29th. Space is limited. Reservations are required. Fee is $25.

    Paint under the pines in a small art village, 5500 feet above sea level. Accomplished landscape painter Jessica Schiffman will teach you her step-by-step method and help you capture changing light and shadows. You will learn about contrast, perspective, color theory, simplifying and organizing shapes, controlling paint, and more.

    DATE & TIME: Tuesday, June 13, 2017  5:30 PM to 7:00 PM

    Indio-based artist Patrick Blythe, known for his bronze, stone, and glass sculpture, will discuss his work and life at an Arts Salon presented by the California Desert Arts Council (CDAC). Coachella Valley Art Center in downtown Indio will host the free event.

    In his presentation, “Art, Soul, and Community”, the artist will talk about his lifelong love of art as well as his career, inspiration, and special place in the art community. Blythe set up his studio at the art center, where he not only creates his work, but also welcomes artists from near and afar to come learn, work, and collaborate. He has become a valuable resource for artists and the community.
