About the Class

Designed for beginner to intermediate students, this class provides step-by-step demonstrations of essential watercolor techniques. Instructor Moira, a signature member of Watercolor West and award-winning painter of Palm Springs scenes, shares her expertise and love of desert landscapes in an encouraging setting. Her classes at the Desert Art Center are very popular, and the paintings shown here were created by her students.

About the Class

In this hands-on class, students will learn the essential skills of stained glass, including glass selection, pattern transfer, cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering, and finishing. Each student will complete a basic project, gaining both knowledge and confidence in this timeless art form.

This is mainly an intermediate class for those with some experience of watercolor painting. Beginners are advised that one of our Elements of Watercolor workshops in the Fall or Spring is the best start. Any beginners wishing to attend the weekly class should discuss this with the instructor. Each week will have a class project circulated by email in advance, but students are also free to paint from their own sketches or photographs.

This class is designed for true novices eager to try the potter’s wheel for the first time. Students will learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing: centering, shaping, and trimming, along with an introduction to the glazing process. By the end, you’ll have a strong foundation to continue exploring clay.
